Case Study: Vessel/ Rig: Maersk Viking (Freight)
Vessel/ Rig: Maersk Viking (Freight)
Date: March 2014 | Project duration: 72 hours
In addition to the extensive crew change which was executed in just 72 hours, Logistics Support Services was also required to take care of a large consignment of ship’s spares for the rig. Since the vessel was only in Walvis Bay for a very short time, LSS needed to clear the freight with Namibian Customs in 48 hours, a process which would normally take four working days. Ten tonnes of freight were flown in to Windhoek and then transported by road on low beds to Walvis Bay. Thereafter it was transported to the Maersk Viking via a supply ship. LSS took care of all the transport relating to the freight, as well as permits for abnormal loads, Namport clearance, security, chartering of the supply ship as well as the clearing and forwarding for the freight.
